KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — Police arrested an 18-year-old man who is accused of killing his father in Kings Mountain on Tuesday.
Kelly Sarvis, 18, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Darren Sarvis Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called Tuesday morning to the North Carpenter Street home where both men lived.
The criminal investigations division determined Darren's death was a homicide and officials announced charges against Kelly late Wednesday.

"It's terrible," said Aaron Cooke, a neighbor who also went to school with Kelly. "I mean, in a small community like this, nobody would have suspected that."
Darren Sarvis ran a boat repair business out of a building next to his home, neighbors told Channel 9.
"He liked to talk, he would work on boats," said Derrick Cole, another neighbor. "He was out riding his motorcycle a lot during the summer time."

Investigators have not said what led to the alleged murder.
