MORGANTON, N.C. — Dozens of people showed up to a parking lot in Morganton Thursday night for a Fred Durst concert that never happened.
Channel 9's partners at the Morganton News Herald snapped photos of the crowd outside the Roses discount store.
Those who showed up said they knew Gastonia-born Durst, of Limp Bizkit, would not be there but they wanted to show their support anyway.
Some even tweeted to Durst, who replied by saying he would be there if he were not in South America.
More than 1,000 people had RSVP'd to a Facebook event for the concert and management at Roses said they were getting phone calls about it non-stop.
The person who created the Facebook event said he did it as a joke.
