IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire that sent several people to the hospital overnight in Iredell County.
The flames broke out at the home on Eufola Road, just southwest of Statesville, around 2:30 a.m.

Channel 9 was the first station to arrive on the scene, and could see firefighters from three different departments working to keep hot spots from re-igniting as smoke rose from the badly damaged home.

Officials said that three people inside the mobile home, including two children, had to be taken to the hospital.
A woman who was asleep inside when the fire started spoke to Channel 9 and said she was alerted to the danger by one of her dogs, who woke her up, giving them just enough time to escape the fire that destroyed their home.
The pit bull kept jumping on Sabrina Figueroa until she realized a fire.
"He come in and pounced on me just like he just did and woke me up," said Figueroa .
She said she then had to break through a window to save her brother-in-law, who suffered second-degree burns.
Her two children, ages 7 and 11, were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

She was not hurt but told Channel 9 that seven dogs died in the fire. A total of six people were in the home when the fire started.
"We got up and you couldn't see nothing, the house, the whole back end -- we lost seven dogs and a cat there," Figueroa said.
The family did not have insurance, so they lost everything.
They told Channel 9 that the Red Cross is helping them figure out what they need to do next.
The fire remains under investigation.
