Search warrants reveal details of Mint Hill teen's gang rape

MINT HILL, N.C. — Search warrants reveal new details about the gang rape of a Mint Hill teenager in November.

Eyewitness News obtained the search warrants almost a month after police in Mint Hill said the teenager was sexually assaulted by five other teens, including two juveniles who are not named.

The warrants provide a detailed description of the assault behind an apartment building in the complex where the 17-year-old victim and at least one of the men charged in the crime were living.

One said officers found the girl unresponsive with bruising all over her body. They said the victim was also covered in feces.

The same warrant says one of the suspects, Jhovany Roman, videotaped with his cellphone while others sexually assaulted the unconscious victim.

Police said the phone's video and pictures also showed Roman sexually assaulting her.

Another warrant said that while Roman was assaulting her, the video shows another person putting his fingers on her neck and saying, "She does not have a pulse."

Police said Eduardo Garcia also used his cellphone to record the attack and told detectives he had deleted the video, but they were able to recover some of the images.

Police said Felix Reyes admitted to sexually assaulting the girl and that a source told them that Reyes had sent messages about the assault from his Snapchat account later that day. They said someone had posted videos on Snapchat as well.

Roman and Garcia and the two juveniles are in custody. Reyes has been released on bond.
