Search and rescue crews are looking for two hikers from Shelby who have been reported missing in Pisgah National Forest.
The Henderson County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that 25-year-old Anthony Logan and 20-year-old Tesla Rackley have not been seen since Saturday afternoon near the Laurel Creek and Squirrel Gap trailhead.
Crews were expected to return to looking for the missing pair on Tuesday morning in western North Carolina.
Authorities say the couple went camping on Wednesday and were separated from the other three people in their group. They are believed to be accompanied by a dog named Lucky.
"We have multiple agencies that have come together," Maj. Frank Stout of the Henderson County Sheriff's Department said. "U.S. Forest Service, Mills River Fire and Rescue, North Transylvania Fire Department, Henderson County Rescue Squad and Henderson County Sheriff's Office."
Deputies say the couple were not prepared for the cold temperatures of the past few nights.
"It doesn't appear they have a lot of hiking experience. They were carrying daypacks instead of a lot of overnight gear," Stout said.
Multiple agencies have been assisting with the search, including a helicopter from the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
We have received information that Tesla Rackley, age 20, and Anthony ‘Tony’ Logan, age 25, were accompanied by 'Lucky'...
