MONROE, NC — The North Carolina Highway Patrol says a crossing guard was hurt in Union County Monday morning when she was hit by a car at Parkwood Middle School on Parkwood School Road in Monroe.
Trooper said Amanda Pratt suffered a possible broken hip and other injuries.
The driver was identified as Parkwood Middle teacher Ashley McDermott.
It was dark and raining when it happened. Troopers said McDermott was travelling at about 20 miles per hour.
Possible charges are pending.
