LINCOLNTON, N.C. — More than 50 residents of an assisted living complex in Lincoln County had to be evacuated overnight because of a fire.

Firefighters arrived to the Salem Church Road complex around 3 a.m. and saw fire and smoke coming from the roof of Carrillon Assisted Living.

Officials said the fire started in one of the halls inside the building and that nobody was hurt.

A total of 56 people live at the facility and everyone was accounted for, crews told Channel 9.

Everyone was allowed back inside except for four residents who live in the impacted section of the building.

There was no word yet on what caused the fire.
