KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — Kings Mountain Police said they were called to Moss Lake on the Fourth of July to recover the body of a man found floating in the lake.

Crews responded to a home on Vernell Lane in Shelby after someone reported seeing the body floating near a dock.
Our news partners at the Shelby Star said that officials believe the man fell into the lake and drowned before floating toward the dock.
Kings Mountain Police Chief Lisa Proctor said it was an older gentleman, but his identity will not be released until his family is notified.
Police have not said where or how the man fell into the lake.
