MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Bethany Rachel Boroughs, 40, of Huntersville was arrested and charged Wednesday for writing fraudulent prescriptions and obtaining controlled substances by fraud or forgery, the Mooresville Police Department said in a news release.
Boroughs wrote and passed fraudulent prescriptions at local pharmacies in Mooresville while working as a nurse practitioner at Piedmont Healthcare-Urgent Care on Days Inn Drive, police said.
Boroughs was charged with one count of obtaining controlled substance by fraud or forgery, one count of attempting to obtain controlled substance by fraud or forgery and two counts of identity theft.
She was taken to the Iredell County Jail where she received a $5,000 secured bond.
