CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — Police were investigating how a man was struck and killed by a train in Cheraw overnight.
Officials said the man, whose name has not been released, was hit just after midnight by an Amtrak passenger train headed to Miami.
Police said the man was hit on the tracks between the two crossings on Huger Street and Marion Street.
Officers said that spot is notorious for heavy foot traffic on the tracks since it is a shortcut through town.
