Police investigating after 2 men found dead inside car at Shelby hospital

SHELBY, N.C. — Police are investigating after two men were found dead Monday inside a car parked at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby.

Just before 4 p.m., Shelby police officers were called to the hospital on East Grover Street. They met hospital security at the Emergency Department entrance and were directed to a car that was parked in the parking lot.

Officers found two men dead inside the vehicle.

Authorities said there were no obvious signs of violence or any type of altercation at the scene and that the case is being treated as a death investigation.

Detectives are working with Atrium Health Security to figure out the circumstances and cause of death for both men. No names have been released.
