INDIAN LAND, N.C. — The Lancaster County coroner revealed Friday that a 9-year-old boy from Indian Land died of asphyxiation.
The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office began investigating Dylan Lemiux's death Wednesday night.
His classmates at Harrisburg Elementary School were notified of his death.
"Every time you saw this kid he was just beaming with life, beaming with good energy," Steven Puckett, principal of Harrisburg Elementary School, said.
Neighbors said Lemieux's brothers were looking for him Wednesday evening and found him dead inside their home.
Dylan was described as 9-years old going on 25-years old and his principal said he was a stranger to few and loved by many.
"What's important for me in a situation like this is just to focus on Dylan," Puckett said. "I'm focusing on his smile, his contagious energy and his positive nature he brought around him."
Counselors will be at Dylan's school all week and his classmates made a memorial for him inside his classroom. They are also making cards for his family.
"No doubt he will continue to live on fresh in our minds," Puckett said.
