CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man and woman were shot in east Charlotte Saturday morning, police said.
The victims told police they had just left the Babylon Hookah Lounge on North Sharon Amity Road, and were walking to their car when they were shot.
The two were driven to the Carolinas Medical Center by a friend, police said.
They are both expected to make a full recovery.
Police saturated the area with more officers following the early morning shooting in response to recent violence.
In January, police said a 16-year-old was shot in the hip outside the Babylon Hookah Lounge after an argument inside escalated to the parking lot.
"This is getting out of control," said Will Smith, an east Charlotte resident who lives near the shopping center.
Channel 9 found more than 600 reported crimes since January within a mile of the lounge.
Most of them were disturbance calls, followed by larceny and assault.
No arrests have been made in the shooting, police said.
