PNC shutters 16 branches, including one in the Charlotte region

PNC Financial Services Group Inc. closed 16 branches in May, including one in the Charlotte region, marking its highest monthly toll so far this year.

The local branch was at 1109 E. Caswell St. in Wadesboro. It closed on May 15.

Pittsburgh-based PNC shuttered sites from Florida to Michigan with the most — five — occurring in Pennsylvania, according to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

PNC plans to close four North Carolina branches this year, according to OCC filings.
