CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have identified a pedestrian who was struck and killed Saturday night while crossing a roadway in east Charlotte.

Officials with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 3400 block of The Plaza. Officers said Tiffany Monique Ray was found in the roadway and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the driver who struck Ray stopped immediately and remained at the scene.
Authorities said Ray was wearing dark clothing while she was crossing The Plaza and was not walking in a marked crosswalk or at an intersection.
Officials said alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation, police said.
