A quickly deleted post on Carolina Panthers offensive tackle Michael Oher’s Instagram has many wondering about his return to the field this season.
An Atlanta Journal Constitution reporter took a screenshot of Oher’s Instagram post that showed an image of 10 prescription pill bottles with the caption, “All for the brain smh (shaking my head).”
Panthers’ general manager Dave Gettleman addressed the picture on Friday and made clear his concerns for Oher, who has been in the NFL’s concussion protocol for more than eight months.
“I don’t know if Michael posted that photo or not,” Gettleman said. “Regardless, my primary interest is Michael’s health.
Gettleman flew May 5 to Nashville to meet with Oher because he had not spoken to him since early March.
“We really had a great visit. We talked for an hour, had lunch, it was very comfortable conversation. We talked about a lot of things – nothing about football. It was about him, how he was doing and the issues he was dealing with,” Gettleman said. “Our No. 1 priority is a healthy Michael Oher. This is not about football, this is about Michael.”
