ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — Troopers are working to figure out exactly what caused a deadly crash in Rowan County Sunday evening.
The three-vehicle wreck happened on Highway 152, near Shinn Farm Road, and left one vehicle completely torn in two.

Troopers said the driver of a Chevy pickup truck, Rodney Shearer, crossed the center-line and crashed into a Chevy Suburban head-on.
A witness told troopers that Shearer was driving erratically just before the crash.
Shearer was killed. A married couple in their 70s, who were in the Suburban, were flown to the hospital..

Troopers are still investigating why Shearer may have been driving erratically.
