UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A three-year-old girl died Monday night after an ATV accident, Union County officials confirmed.
Union County Sheriff’s investigators said an 11-year-old was operating the ATV when her 3-year-old sister, Ana Huntley, bounced off and hit her head.
Investigators said it appears the 11-year-old driver hit a bump and her sister popped out of her seat.
Channel 9 also learned neither of them were wearing helmets.
The accident happened on the family’s property near Brief Road, close to Highway 218.
The girl was taken to Novant Health in Matthews where she died.

It was unclear how fast the ATV was traveling.
