Superintendent Mary Ellis is the president of a company called Educatrx which also employed two other top school administrators and a sales executive from computer maker Lenovo.
Lenovo was in the middle of a contract to sell thousands of laptops to the district.
The SBI said it didn't identify any criminal acts in its investigation.
The Union County Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Monday. They haven't said what that meeting is about, but did say it has to do with a confidential personnel matter.
The announcement came hours after the SBI said Ellis would not be criminally charged.
