HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. — A North Carolina deputy was suspended for comments he posted on Facebook after two men in Louisiana and Minnesota were shot and killed by police this past week.
Haywood County Deputy Andrew Sutton replied to a Facebook comment thread Thursday night, officials said.
Part of his posts read: “I usually shoot people on Facebook too,” and “Next time you see the police take cover we shoot for anything.”
Jenny Young, a woman who was exchanging comments with the deputy, said the deputy’s responses were frightening.
“It kind of made me scared that he’s actually running around with a badge,” she said.
Sutton’s Facebook page appears to be no longer active.
Haywood County’s Chief Deputy Jeff Haynes said he believes the 23-year-old deputy let his emotions get the better of him.
