GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Troopers in Gaston County said neither a mother nor her 10-year-old daughter was wearing seatbelts when another driver crashed into their vehicle Saturday night, killing them.
The wreck happened along South Battleground Avenue and Bethlehem Road.
Troopers said Makala Martin and her mother, Brandy Helms died when a car ran a stop sign and hit them.
Several others were hurt in the crash, but no other details have been released.
Troopers have not said if the other driver has been charged.
