YORK, S.C. — York police are investigating a homicide after responding to a shots fired call at 4:15 p.m. Monday in the area of the 200 block of Mighty Joe Trail in the Green Acres subdivision.
While en route, officers were provided a description of the vehicle involved and spotted the car on Singletary Lane as it fled the area.
Officers were able to stop the vehicle and detain the driver. That person's name has not been released.
Other officers continued on to Mighty Joe Trail where they found 28-year-old Antonio Nichols dead in the yard.
Another person inside the home was shot and airlifted to the hospital for treatment, officials told Channel 9.
“We're not used to this,” neighbor Willie Williams said. “This is a quiet neighborhood down here, you know. Lately, things been happening.”
The incident is still under investigation and no further details have been released.
