Lenoir man shot to death in Greensboro mall parking lot

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Authorities said a Lenoir man was shot to death in the parking lot of a North Carolina mall Saturday afternoon.

Greensboro Police said in a news release that officers found the shooting victim after responding to a call reporting gunshots around 1:30 p.m. at the Four Seasons Town Centre.

Authorities said the shooting happened outside J.C. Penney, and that the mall remained open all day.

Westley Tyler Tugman, 33, was identified as the victim in the homicide, our sister station WGHP reported.

“Based on preliminary information, it appears Mr. Tugman was confronted by his assailant in the parking lot of Four Season Town Centre, in what appears to have been an attempted robbery,” Greensboro police said in a news release. “During the confrontation, the suspect fired a weapon and Mr. Tugman sustained a gunshot wound. After the assault, the suspect fled the scene.”

Police say they haven't arrested anyone and descriptions of the suspect vary.
