MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. — A Gastonia man is facing a second-degree murder charge after police said he shot and killed another man Wednesday night in Mount Holly.
Police said they have arrested 34-year-old Josiah Philpott in the shooting death of 35-year-old Christopher Caskey.

The shooting was reported around 8:15 p.m. on North Woodcliff Lane. Caskey was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Police said they received several 911 calls in regard to a fight and gunfire They found Caskey in the middle of the road outside his house, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Investigators said Philpott and Caskey knew one another and that Philpott was apparently the father of some of the children who were at the home at the time of the shooting.
Philpott was being held at the Gaston County Jail with no bond.
