3 arrests made in Chesterfield County homicide, deputies say

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — The Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office arrested two men in connection with death of a 28-year-old man Saturday night.

A third was arrested on Thursday afternoon.

James Monroe Brown, 27, Brenton Xavier Davis, 26 and Jamarcus Lavar Sellers, 27, are charged with accessory before and after the fact in the murder of James Henderson.

The sheriff’s office said Henderson was shot eight times just after 11 p.m. outside of his home on Hillian Edwards Road, near Cheraw.

Deputies said Henderson ran from the area after the shooting and ended up across Highway 9 in some woods, where he was found dead.

Witnesses told deputies that Henderson had driven a friend home and when he returned to his house, Henderson told those witnesses that people were out to kill him.

They said Henderson received a series of phone calls and the final call came from a person who asked him to step outside of his home.

Davis is being held at the Marlboro County Detention Center on a separate charge of simple assault inside the city limits of Bennettsville. Brown is being held at the Chesterfield County Detention Center.

Deputies are still searching for two to three other people who were seen talking to Henderson before shots were fired.

Anyone with information about the killing is asked to contact the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office at 843-623-2101.
