STANLY COUNTY, N.C. — Divers pulled a 50-year-old man's body out of Lake Tillery in Stanly County after he drowned.
Deputies got a call around 11:30 a.m. Friday reporting the man was drowning in the water off Oakwood Road.
Divers went into the water to search for him and confirmed he did not fall from a boat.
Officials said the man was with his family when he went swimming, went under the water and never resurfaced.
The man’s body was recovered at about 2 p.m.
Authorities have not released the man’s name or any further details.
