Home sales by former Panthers coach, executive top charts

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A couple of big names once affiliated with the Carolina Panthers sold their south Charlotte homes in September. And those sales logged in as the two most expensive residential transactions in Mecklenburg County last month.

The priciest home sale recorded in the county last month occurred on Sept. 29, when former Panthers head coach John Fox and wife Robin sold their nearly 15,000-square-foot estate on Baltusrol Lane in Quail Hollow for almost $5.4 million. And the buyer? DNCooper LLC, an entity tied to the NFL franchise’s current owner, David Tepper, bought the home, according to county property records and media reports.

In that same Quail Hollow neighborhood and just a half-mile away, former Panthers executive Mark Richardson sold his 7,700-square-foot home for nearly $3.7 million on Sept. 21.

The other homes that made it on to CBJ’s roundup of the priciest Mecklenburg County residential transactions in September range in price from $2.3 million to $3.25 million. They span several Charlotte neighborhoods, including Eastover, Freedom Park, Foxcroft and Myers Park, while others are located in Cornelius.
