CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Emergency crews were on the scene of a hazardous conditions situation Monday morning at the Mecklenburg County Health Department in northwest Charlotte.
Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the scene on Beatties Ford Road near Interstate 85 around 8:30 a.m. and could see several fire trucks, police cruisers and MEDIC vehicles in front of the building.
Channel 9 reporter Tina Terry was the first on the scene and was told by authorities that employees were asked to evacuate the building and were waiting in the parking lot after someone found a white powdery substance inside.
Officials told Terry around 9:40 a.m. that staff was being allowed back inside after finding the substance was non-hazardous.
