BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — One group continued its fight to prevent the demolition of a nearly 100 year old school in Burke County Monday.
They were in court, hoping to appeal a judge's decision to allow the demolition.
Earlier this year, Hildebran town leaders voted to tear down the town's old high school since renovating would cost $1 million due to asbestos and a bat infestation.
"Many of us in the community feel like Hildebran will suffer a tremendous loss if that building is demolished, so we are pretty passionate about saving it," said Johnny Childers, Vice President of the Hildebran Heritage Development Associaiton.
The group has until early October to file its appeal.
