CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A benefit show is being held for a Union County teacher who was shot and killed last week.
Ruijuan "Euphie" Guo, 33, was shot by an armed robber, police said.
Guo died Wednesday morning at Carolinas Medical Center in the presence of her family.
The benefit is being held by Beyond the Fade, a local Charlotte band, to raise money for her boyfriend's plane ticket to her funeral in China.
“I was instantly devastated when I found out about what happened,” Beyond the Fade's Neil Jackson said. “I kind of feel partially responsible because they were at my show, and it wouldn’t of happened had they not been there. I know it’s not my fault, but I feel it is my duty to try and help out.”
The benefit will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25 at the Kannapolis Performing Arts Center.
Jackson said there will be four bands, four acoustic acts, a food and bake sale, raffle, silent auction, face painting and more.
Bands and sponsors will be announced at a later date.
