CHARLOTTE, N.C. — All lanes of Freedom Drive have reopened after a FedEx truck crashed into a man riding a scooter overnight.
Channel 9 watched as police performed a routine field sobriety test on the driver of the truck, but he was cleared and is not facing any charges.
The crash, which happened around 1 a.m. on Freedom Drive near Interstate 85, shut down the inbound lanes for nearly three hours overnight.
Officers said the man who was hit was on his scooter in the bike lane. He was hurt so badly, police worry he won't survive his injuries.
Police are investigating what caused the crash.
