COLUMBIA, S.C. — Former Panthers running back Stephen Davis was arrested Wednesday after being accused of not paying taxes on a nightclub that he owns in Columbia.
Police said Davis is charged with one count of operating a business without a license and three counts of writing fraudulent checks.
Davis, 38, played three seasons with the Panthers, 2003-2005, and helped lead the team to Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2003.
Davis also played for the Redskins and the Rams in his 11-year career. He was voted to the Pro Bowl three times.
Davis is a native of Spartanburg and attended Spartanburg High School.
