CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Fire crews had to battle an intense house fire early Wednesday morning in the university area of northeast Charlotte.
Firefighters were called to the 2-story home on Oak Leigh Drive just after 4 a.m. and reported heavy flames and smoke coming from both floors.

No injuries were reported and investigators said the home was vacant.
Officials are trying to determine how the fire started.
