Firefighters battle hot temperatures, large fire in Ballantyne

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A house went up in flames Saturday afternoon in Ballantyne.

Firefighters were called to Beacon Valley Street around 3:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported, but paramedics responded as firefighters battled flames in temperatures over 90 degrees.

Investigators said the fire was caused accidentally. Two people were displaced and there is $415,000 worth of damages.

Additional companies rotated in to relieve firefighters because of the heat.

Neighbors told Channel 9 the homeowner was at home and tried to put the fire out, but he got out safely.
