CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Fifty firefighters responded to a two-alarm house fire Monday afternoon in south Charlotte that caused $229,000 in damages.
Fire ripped through the home near the Piper Glen community. Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the scene as crews worked to put out the flames and save the neighboring homes.
It was reported around 5:15 p.m. on Tripp Place. Channel 9 is working to gather more details about this developing story.

Seven people lived in the home. They were there when the fire broke out but were able to make it out safely.
Early indications show the fire started in the garage, officials said, and it appeared the home was a total loss.
One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, officials said.
Unattended cooking material in the garage caused the fire.
