Emergency crews were called around 7:15 a.m. Monday to the house on Hubbard Point Drive, near West Sugar Creek Road, and found Thrash who had been stabbed.
Thrash was pronounced dead at the scene, paramedics said.
"It's hard to comprehend that this could have happened," neighbor Leon Pack said. "It's hard to think that someone would take someone's life for whatever reason."
Authorities said they detained Long and interviewed him at police headquarters.
Neighbors told Channel 9 that they woke up to the sound of sirens, and one man described what he saw when he looked out his window seconds after police arrived.
“By the time I looked, they had a gentleman based on the grass and cuffs, basically holding him there,” said Justin Dues. “About a minute later, another police vehicle showed up here and starting taping stuff off.”
Neighbors are left wondering why someone would do this.
"I know it can happen in any community, not just our community, but in any community and the fact that someone's life was taken, it's hard to deal with that," Pack said.
