Driver tries to run after 2 cars collide in Caldwell County, witnesses say

CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — Two cars crashed head-on shutting down Connelly Springs Road in Caldwell County Thursday morning.

Witnesses said the crash happened near the North Catawba Fire Department.

At least two people were transported to the hospital.

A witness told Channel 9 that one of the drivers attempted to run from the scene but firefighters stopped him.

We are asking police if speed or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
