GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A woman died in a head-on crash near Stanley early Tuesday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the wreck on Dallas Stanley Highway near Lineberger Street just before 8 a.m.
Troopers said 57-year-old Donna Thompson, of Gastonia, was distracted when she drove across the center line and crashed into another car.
She died at the scene.

The man driving the other car was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Dallas Stanley Highway was shut down until 11:15 a.m. while police investigated.
