Conover man accused of killing 7-month-old faces judge

NEWTON, N.C. — A man from Conover accused of killing a 7-month-old boy faced a judge Monday morning in Newton.

Police charged Tyler Linebarger with murder and felony child abuse in the death of Chekeem Hickman Jr.
 
According to the arrest warrant, the 7-month-old had multiple internal injuries, bruises and broken ribs before dying at the hospital.
 
Family members and friends of the baby fought back tears during the court appearance.
