MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are asking for the public’s help finding a man who they believe took off to North Carolina after murdering a man in New York.

Jamaad Murphy, 26, is accused of fatally shooting a 23-year-old man outside of a Middletown, New York bar, WABC reported.

Murphy is described as having brown hair and brown eyes. He is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds.

Authorities said a fight began inside the bar and spilled out into the parking lot where Murphy shot Matthew Napoleoni.

Napoleoni was taken to a hospital where he died.

“People running out, screaming, wailing,” said Realtor Joseph Williams, who was nearby when the shooting happened. “You can’t make this stuff up, and then the cops come. It’s something you won’t forget.”

Authorities advise anyone who sees Murphy, be cautious and call 911 immediately.

Anyone with information on where Murphy may be is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or the Crime Stoppers website.
