CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police were investigating after a SUV crashed through the back of a home in north Charlotte overnight.
Officers said the vehicle slammed into the home on Damask Drive around 3:30 a.m., coming to a rest in the kitchen.
The group of teenagers in the SUV told police they were parked when some people approached their car and tried to rob them. When they tried drive away, they say someone grabbed the wheel and caused to the driver to lose control.
Firefighters had to put 2x4s in place to help support the home after the SUV was removed.
Police told Channel 9 that the teenage driver and two others in the vehicle ran away after the crash but they were able to convince them to return to the scene a short time later.
Officers have not said if any charges will be filed.
Police estimate the damage to the house to be $30,000.
The homeowner said she's trying to figure out who will pay to fix her home.

Nobody in the house was hurt and police have not released any other information.
