CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police were investigating an overnight homicide after they said a man was stabbed to death in north Charlotte.
Emergency crews were called to a gas station on North Tryon Street at Dalton Avenue around 3:30 a.m. When they arrived, officers found 38-year-old Dawayne Odom suffering from stab wounds.
Police did not immediately know if he was shot or stabbed.

Odom was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
CMPD charged Kevin Hedgepeth, 45, was arrested and charged with murder, CMPD said.
Police told Channel 9 it stemmed from an altercation in the gas station parking lot.
CMPD is looking for a man who was in the store because they said he could be a possible witness. (Pictured below)
