CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating after they said someone fired several shots into a north Charlotte house overnight, injuring one person inside.
Officers were called to the home on Justice Avenue, near Atando and Statesville avenues just before 1 a.m.
When police arrived they found a man wounded, but his injuries were minor and possibly caused by debris, officials told Channel 9.
Crime scene technicians were at the home for more than three hours collecting evidence while officers interviewed several people.

Earlier this month, CMPD told Channel 9 that similar cases of shootings into homes had spiked by 50 percent, and outlined the department’s effort to curb violent crime.
Tuesday morning’s shooting is not far from where police said drugs and shootings have been an issue.
CMPD reported last week that they have been cracking down the violent crimes, and that over the past six weeks they have made 116 arrests and seized 13 guns.

In areas they've focused on, violent crime was down 15 percent over the last month and police have even increased rewards for tips to their Crime Stoppers line by as much as $1,000.
Police have not made an arrest in the case and are not sure if the house was specifically targeted.
