CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man has died and a second man was injured after a shooting in the University City area of Charlotte, officials told Channel 9.
It happened around 7:10 p.m. Monday on Berkeley Place Drive. One of the victims called Charlotte-Mecklenburg police and said they had been shot and were on their way to the hospital.
Police have identified the man as Darian Lavon Curry, 46. He died at the hospital.
The second man has a non-life-threatening injury. Officials said the case was drug related.

Officials told reporter Elsa Gillis that the shooting was not random.
Michael Kevin Duncan, 26, was charged in Curry's murder. He was arrested without incident Tuesday morning.
Officers were notified by ER staff at Carolinas Medical Center - University that two men were in the emergency room with gunshot wounds.
