CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police detectives believe two family members got into an argument that led to a deadly shooting early Saturday morning in east Charlotte.
Officers responded just after 12:30 a.m. to the 6900 block of Olde Savannah Road for an assault with a deadly weapon call.
They found a man, Donnelle McDonald, 31, with a gunshot wound. He died at the scene.
Detectives interviewed Gary Austin, 52, and charged him with McDonald’s murder, officials said. Officers transferred Austin into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
