BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — A hiker fell Saturday afternoon at Table Rock Mountain in the Linville Gorge area of Burke County, officials said.
The man was rescued by helicopter after falling 250 feet.

The hiker slid down the mountain side, officials told Channel 9, and it was not a straight fall.
One of the rescuers told reporter Dave Faherty that a Black Hawk helicopter from Salisbury helped with the rescue.

The hiker has serious leg injuries and was taken to Mission Health in Asheville.
