A truck carrying chicken guts rear-ended a vehicle on I-77 northbound near exit 30 around 10:30 p.m., authorities said.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation originally said was it would be cleaned up by 12:45 a.m. Wednesday but the spill had the lanes closed until 4 a.m.
The truck driver was cited for speeding and no injuries were reported.
This makes the seventh time that trucks have spilled animal parts on roads in the Charlotte region in the last year.
