DENVER, N.C. — A Charlotte woman made an unsettling discovery after biting into her KFC order Tuesday.
Lucy Parker Randall posted a photo to her Facebook page of a receipt from the KFC on Highway 16 South in Denver, along with a photo of what was in her meal.
She said she ordered a thigh and leg but explained, “I started eating and I look down to see this disgusting (expletive). I started hurling and almost crying all at the same time. I've never been so grossed out in my entire life."
“You would think they would look at what is going in the box,” said Dennis Inzinna.
She believes another chicken part was in the food.
Randall said she would call the health department the next day.
A spokesperson for KFC told Channel 9 that the woman has not been in touch with them, and explained that the part is probably a portion of a kidney, which wasn’t removed.
In a statement to Channel 9 a KFC spokesperson said:
“Although the franchisee who owns this restaurant has not received the product, it appears from a photograph that, unfortunately, on this occasion a kidney may not have been removed during the prep inspection process. We're very sorry about this guest’s experience, and while there was no health risk, we agree it was not appetizing. The franchisee has been in contact with the guest to resolve the matter.”
The franchise reached out to Parker Randall. She told Channel 9 she became sick after eating.
She’s not sure if it stemmed from the restaurant, but she said she has hired an attorney.
