Citizens take action after tennis coach accused of child molestation

BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — A Charlotte man accused of child molestation was arrested in Charlotte, a Bibb County, Georgia, sheriff’s investigator said.

Benjamin Joseph Swain, 42, was charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes and child molestation.

Deputies met with a relative of the victim, a 15-year-old girl, on June 14. The relative had information from the teen’s cellphone that suggested a relationship between Swain and the victim, deputies said. It was discovered that the incidents happened on June 3, the Sheriff's Office said. Swain was arrested Friday.

Swain's webpage states he has been coaching tennis for 25 years and has coached more than 40 students who earned college tennis scholarships.

Investigators said Swain confessed to placing a pen camera in a hotel bathroom he shared with three teenage girls and that he had video showing the girls taking a shower and using the bathroom, according to a search warrant.

Police search Swain's home Tuesday in a south Charlotte townhouse and seized a laptop, an iPhone and other possible evidence.

Anyone with information about this incident can contact the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at 478-751-7500.
