CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating a homicide after they said two shooting victims drove themselves to the hospital and crashed at the emergency room entrance early Monday morning.
Officers told Channel 9 that around 1:30 a.m. two teens were shot off Wheatley Avenue in the Grier Heights neighborhood.
The victims ended up driving themselves to Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital in Elizabeth but were in such a hurry to find help that they crashed into the building next to the ER.

Police told Channel 9 that the passenger in the car, 19-year-old Markas Vereen, died a short time after arriving at the hospital.
Angela McHam was among those outside the Emergency Room early Monday morning, and she said the teenager injured was her grandson, 18-year-old Ricco McHam.
She said the shooting stemmed from a long running feud that had finally boiled over.
“I'm not trying to say that he's no angel, but this has to stop, this has got to stop,” she said.
McHam’s frustration also boiled over as she suddenly found a common refrain hitting too close to home.
“People say black lives matter, ok black lives do matter, let's stop killing each other," she said.
Officers had a section of the cancer center roped off with crime tape.
So far, police have not identified any suspects and no arrests have been made.
